DeSoto ISD became part of the Education is Freedom (EIF) network in the 2024–2025 school year. Since then, the percentage of students achieving TSI-Met status by assessment—a key measure of college readiness—has increased by more than 17%.

Why does TSI readiness matter? It helps students save time and money by avoiding costly remedial courses when they enroll in college. More importantly, it gives them confidence that they belong on a college path.

“Our mission is to ensure students, without exception, learn and grow at their highest levels,” said Dr. Usamah Rodgers, DeSoto ISD Superintendent. “How do we make this mission a reality in the day-to-day lives of our students?”

Dr. Rodgers credits EIF as part of the answer: “We partnered with Commit to bring in EIF—more boots on the ground to help students understand that they truly have a pathway to a successful future.”
